What Youll Get to DoThe Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for the administration and co-ordination of Occupational Health Safety programs and initiatives companywide. They work directly alongside Calm Air’s Quality & Safety team to actively identify hazards in the workplace and provide corrective action solutions.Operations:Work cordially with Management to implement and improve the entire health and safety program Maintain, learn, and enforce the Health and Safety regulations, policies, practices, and proceduresInvestigate all accidents, incidents and near misses and provide recommendations for improvementsHelp maintain and distribute first aid kit supplies for all stations companywideParticipate and provide guidance in the development of safe work procedures and personal protective equipment programsConduct regular and random site audits and develop corrective actions to address areas of concern Assist in development of Health and Safety policies, procedures, education, and training.Provides information and guidance to Supervisors, Managers, and employees on OHS matters as necessaryEnsure Company’s Health and Safety program follows, or exceeds applicable legislationDevelop agenda and organize monthly occupational health and safety meetingsWork with company occupational health and safety committees to ensure all safety related concerns are addressed in a timely and professional mannerActs as an integral part of the Quality & Safety team, actively working with the Safety Management System by performing risk assessments, investigation, and development of corrective actionsOther duties as assignedSafety:Carry out their duties safely within regulatory and company standards, policies, processes, and procedures as trained Actively identify and report hazards and deficiencies (when in doubt report) Assist in development of company processes and procedures as required.Skills & Experience We Value Diploma in Occupation Health and Safety considered an asset 1-3 years experience in related role required Knowledge on Federal Health and Safety legislation (COHS, AOHS) an assetExcellent communication (both written and verbal and interpersonal skill; this includes conflict resolution, active listening and the ability to maintain diplomacy and integrity while representing Calm Air. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe, in addition to internal systemsClear understanding of Quality Assurance AuditingAviation experience considered an assetAbility to obtain and maintain all applicable security clearancesTravel requiredInuktitut language considered an assetPreference given to Inuit Land Claims beneficiaries
