Custodian

Job Description:

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Custodian to join our Maintenance team at our main campus in Pittsburgh. This role is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors at our aviation campus. Responsibilities:

Clean and inspect restrooms, hallways, entryways, and common areas
Sweep, dust, strip, and wax floors
Empty trash cans and smoking receptacles
Stock janitor closets and restroom supplies
Set up furniture and equipment for events
Patrol hallways and common areas for debris
Inspect and clean restrooms
Stock restrooms as necessary
Inform management/supervision of any maintenance deficiencies
Report maintenance issues to management
Open and close campus buildings daily
Perform outdoor cleaning tasks and occasional mail runs

Knowledge, Skills & Traits:

Basic technical knowledge of commercial cleaning supplies and tools, common power and hand tools, forklifts, and general maintenance equipment
Problem solving, conflict resolution, and collaboration skills

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, lift up to 50 pounds at a time unassisted, and push/pull up to 75lbs
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods (4-7 hours) throughout the day.
Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as directed per OSHA/MSDS.
Ability and willingness to work in an environment that involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, and which requires following basic safety precautions.
Must be able to work hours outside of the regular work schedule or weekends, when required by management/supervision.
Willing and able to work in the outside elements when necessary
Must be able to use chemical cleaning solutions

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent
1-3 years of previous Custodial or Maintenance Experience
Familiarity with cleaning tools, chemicals, and safety procedures
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends if needed
Must pass a background check
Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills
