Role Purpose:
The Advisor is a key member of the Crew Accommodations and Transportation team, ensuring operational excellence while enhancing the quality of our crew members’ experience. Working closely with internal stakeholders and contracted vendors, the Advisor will recommend, secure, and maintain accommodation and transportation solutions that prioritize safety, security, and comfort. This role requires adaptability in a fast-paced environment, strong negotiation skills to secure favorable agreements, and clear communication to support crew members and stakeholders. Acting as the primary point of contact, the Advisor will represent WestJet in daily interactions with Unionized Hotel Committee members, crew members, and vendors, while driving continuous improvement in service delivery.
Job Description:
- Identify and secure accommodation and transportation requirements based on network schedules.
- Negotiate with vendors and stakeholders to ensure cost-effective, high-quality solutions.
- Define and maintain hotel and transportation selection criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Facilitate site visits and supplier selection processes, ensuring standards of safety, comfort, and value.
- Assess vendor proposals and provide recommendations to leadership and committee members.
- Investigate and resolve operational and commercial matters with contracted vendors, ensuring timely resolution.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with crew members through formal channels and digital platforms.
- Enhance team presence and engagement through internal communication tools.
- Provide shared support for both WestJet and WestJet Encore operations.
- Maintain reports, market updates, and assist in implementing strategic objectives.
- Represent Crew Accommodations and Transportation at internal and external meetings/events.
Qualifications:
- Ability and willingness to travel an average 8 days per month (with flexibility for higher travel periods).
- Valid driver’s license and passport with the ability to drive within North America.
- Proven experience in the hotel/transportation industry, ideally in a management or negotiation-focused role.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence outcomes.
- Demonstrated success working in fast-paced, dynamic environments with shifting priorities.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Working knowledge of CAE CrewTrac preferred.
- Ability to multitask, work independently, and adapt quickly to new challenges.
- Proactive problem-solving mindset with the ability to propose innovative solutions.
