Job Description:

SUMMARY

Manages employees who use a variety of equipment such as forklifts, conveyers, cranes, hand carts, and power trucks to move materials, parts, assemblies, and finished products or goods within a plant or warehouse. Plans, schedules, and routes inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments of freight. Applies broad technical knowledge of all phases of transportation industry to analyze company asset movement to ensure compliance with state, federal and international laws, rules and company policy. Responsible for cycle counting process, inventory accuracy, and management of materials and inventory that will include government parts in the warehouse.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Managing operations processes associated with Labor Scheduling, Receiving, put away, Inventory Control, Picking, Shipping, Assembly and Reverse Logistics.
  • Manages the processing, packaging, and storage of supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Supports compliance with all policies, procedures, safety rules and governmental regulations.
  • Manages the selection of appropriate containers and wrapping methods for materials to be shipped or stored.
  • Coordinates with engineers, shippers, carton manufacturers, and carpenters for special crafting and packing requirements.
  • Manages employees who maintain records and check invoices/bills of lading.
  • Coordinates all areas of warehouse security.
  • Owns the relationship (quality, on time shipping, and compliance) with all shippers including small packages, LTL, and 3 PL companies.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Job Requirements:

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience with logistics processes and carriers
  • Experience and complete understanding of a MRP / ERP system (preferably JD Edwards) required.
  • Advance skills in, proficient with and capable of training others in the higher level functionality of Microsoft Office Suite. (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
  • Self-motivated, persistent, hands-on, result oriented, well organized with ability to handle multiple projects within expected time frame.
  • Must be proactive and have a sense of urgency to meet the demands of all customers and have the ability to think ahead of potential problems.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, and organization skills are required.
  • The ability to understand and follow directions and the ability to concentrate is required.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to get along with others or to be part of a team.
  • Access to Export Control Information required.
  • Regular attendance at the worksite required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; and at least 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Purchasing and supply management profession certifications such as: Institute of Supply Management's CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager), CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), CSM (Certified in Supply Management) preferred.
