Reporting Relationship

The Operations Manager reports directly to the General Manager.

Responsibilities:

A key member of local management team, he/she provides tactical leadership and management direction to the Production Operations and Facilities Maintenance team in the organization. His/her key challenges are to spearhead the operational efficiency of the production units in the organization, improve and meet the Turn-around Times, On Time Delivery, Quality and Safety KPIs. He/she is also accountable for effective deployment of resources, including operational discipline, skills development/re‐training and performance management of his/her subordinates.

Production Operations

  • Ensure that the products are repaired and return to customer within the promised turn time and delivery date.
  • Implement root-cause analysis to ensure that quality escape are not repeated.
  • Achieve cumulative labor productivity improvement per target set annually.
  • Achieve YTD OTD of 95 or better.
  • Schedule the workload and flow to optimize the capacity of the organization.
  • Continuously improve on the work method, Lean production flow, cycle time reduction, setup reduction and mistake proofing.
  • Take leadership to drive operational improvements by working with other functional departments internal and external. 
  • Perform capacity planning for equipment, floor space and manpower requirements in accordance with forecasted workload. Optimize floor space to meet growth objectives.
  • Drive New Product Introduction implementation plan as agreed with Engineering. 
  • Conduct regular performance review of subordinates, motivate and develop subordinates to optimize their performance and their personal and professional growth. 
  • Identify skills gap and ensure adequate cross training of team members.
  • Manage support functions which may include Calibration and Metallurgical laboratory as required. 
  • Communicate with customers on delivery matters as required.
  • Deputize for the General Manager as and when assigned.
  • Carry out special projects as may be assigned.

Facilities & Equipment Maintenance

  • Supervise all facilities and equipment maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Ensure required maintenance / inspection logs of all facilities and equipment are properly maintained in accordance with local regulatory requirements and company procedures.
  • Implement Preventive Maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance and ensure they are performed on timely and cost-effective basis.
  • Make Repair vs Replace decisions with justification 
  • Implement or integrate software system to run preventive and scheduled maintenance.
  • Monitor and track all equipment warranties, service contracts and manuals in one system.
  • Maintain sufficient resources with the right training and knowledge of machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and procedures are complied with.

Academic Qualifications and Working Experience:

  • Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • At least 8 years management experience in Aerospace or Oilfield industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience in deploying Lean Strategy and managing a culturally diversified organization.

Work Conditions:

  • Overtime may be required to meet deadlines.
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices and objects.
  • Physically able to conduct and lead production trials and product/process training sessions,and participate in presentations and meetings.
  • Travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with vendors, customers and stakeholders.
