About the role
The Head of Product role is crucial for guiding both Discover Qatar (DQ) and Qatar Airways Holidays (QRH). This position manages global supply and serves as the primary commercial driver for both brands. Key responsibilities include planning product strategy, managing the supplier landscape, and delivering package services across all programs. These encompass accommodations, transportation, tours, safaris, activities, and events tailored by spanet segment to support competitive growth.
Additionally, this role involves researching, analyzing, and conducting competitor benchspaning to ensure profitability and adherence to international quality and safety standards. The Head of Product oversees supplier quality control and develops a commercial approach to create a preferred partner supplier network. The role also includes managing the Sports Product portfolio, covering high-profile programs like the QRH FIFA World Cup, Formula One, UEFA Champions League, and other sports products
Key Accountabilities include:
Strategic
- Assist the Senior Manager in planning the annual product delivery and supply roadmap. identify products and services which match the spaneting strategy, target customer groups and the requirements from the key spanets of Qatar Airways network.
- Monitor the on-going benchspaning against local competitors and global providers to ensure that DQ and QRH can deliver best breed range for low cost, mid-range, and high-end spanets. Analyse and review the products existing in the spanet and any globally applicable products for development in Qatar.
- Develop Discover Qatar signature products to ensure a differentiated range of DMC product purchasable only through direct contracting with DQ. Responsible for the development and direction of design, research aimed at improving current products and generating ideas for new products and services. Develop process to liaise and instruct designers, manufacturers and suppliers.
- Develop Qatar Airways Holidays signature product and supply ensuring an always on competitive offering and a flash sale business model to complement to stimulate the spanets in which we operate.
- Lead on the expansion of the product distribution for Qatar Airways Holidays storefronts to enable improved access to the product globally.
- Manage the annual product delivery and supply roadmap. identify products and services which match the spaneting strategy, target customer groups and the requirements from the key spanets of Qatar Airways network.
Operational
- Develop the product plan and implement and manage the ongoing development. Ensure correct loading and content is hosted within the DQ, QRH and TUI systems.
- A key contributor to the DQ/QRH budget through a strong understanding of cost base and revenue streams.
- Responsible for key product development projects, provide suggestions and advice on design and module changes. Initiate plans for projects ensuring frequent interaction within the business to safeguard a balance between immediate project needs and long term goals of the division.
- Manage the collection of customer data for product requirements and evaluate/analyse the same to meet the requirements/expectation of our customers.
- Oversee the statistical analysis and product performance to ensure increased profitability of range with recommendation to Senior Manager for in-house vs. outsourced suppliers.
- Oversee the testing and evaluation of products based on industry best practice and provides guidance and management of the process when necessary.
- Plan and initiate commercial teams KP ls, objectives and relevant strategy to ensure that employees remain competitive based on company vision and mission, accountable to delegate responsibilities between team members in a cohesive and organised manner.
- Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.
Quality
- Ensure integrity and accuracy of content provided for relevant areas and determine stage level and roll-out plans in order to maintain quality levels.
- Develop and implement recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated occurrences by updating service recovery plans in order to sustain quality levels.
- Ensuring that interaction within internal teams are carried out smoothly and effectively thereby ensuring that quality, price, sustainability and overall look and feel of the product specifications are as per QR standard.
