Flight Profitability is an essential tool providing key information used in strategic decision making and setting direction for the profitable growth of the airline.
Responsibilities:Lead the implementation and management of the company’s route profitability and analysis system ensuring decision makers have access to accurate and timely information.Provide direction/set team goals, training, support and mentoring to the Route Profitability & Reporting team, Develop a reporting strategy with invested user groups ensuring their requirements are reflected in model development and that we can provide the data they need to drive profitable growth.Establish and maintain a security policy for Flight Profitability data that provides users access to the data they need for decision making but maintains the highly confidential nature of the data.Develop a deep understanding of the route profitability software in order to implement best practices in revenue and cost modelingEstablish and maintain a strong relationship with the software vendor ensuring Air Canada derives maximum benefit from its software investment and the vendor’s deep experience in the airline route profitability space.Ensure the vendor is meeting is contractual obligations and system performance targets.Develop a strategy to leverage the software’s extensive modelling functionality to expand its capabilities/build new models beyond route profitability and provide additional value to decision makers.Establish and maintain a change management policy that sets quality assurance requirements for model development and changes that ensures they accurately reflect user requirements and prevents errors from being introduced before being moved to production.Establish policy for the leveraging of Flight Profitability data to support other decision-making systems while ensuring the confidentiality of the data is maintained.Lead testing and implementation activities for new software releases.Oversee continuous improvement activities ensuring we take advantage of opportunities to implement new sources of data to improve revenue and cost allocation accuracy, refine/enhance allocation methodologies, improve model performance, etc. Develop a strategy for the design, calibration, use and validation of a forecast model that provides accurate foresight to guide future planning decisions.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study (Finance, Accounting, Business)Strong understanding of and previous experience in the airline industry5+ years experience with profitability/cost modelingStrong organizational skills, ability to shift priorities on an ad hoc basis and with a keen interest in Information Technology/FinanceStrong analytical/problem solving skillsVery detail orientedStrong IT skills Knowledge of relational databasesSQLPower BI data models and visualizationsComplete proficiency with MS OfficeStrong interpersonal and communication skills both oral and writtenAbility to work under strict deadlines with limited supervision, and to manage own timeDemonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
