Position Summary
The Sheet Metal / Structures Technician is responsible for performing fabrication, installation, repair, and modification of aircraft structural components in support of VIP completion and modification projects. This role requires precision in working with aluminum and composite structures, interpreting engineering drawings, and ensuring compliance with FAA and company standards. The ideal candidate brings hands-on structural repair and fabrication experience, with a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and safety in a fast-paced completions environment.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Fabricate, install, and repair aircraft structural components including skins, frames, brackets, and interior support structures.
- Perform drilling, riveting, fitting, and fastening operations per engineering drawings and process specifications.
- Conduct structural modifications to support installation of interior monuments, cabinetry, and systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and STC/8110-3 instructions.
- Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure accurate fit and alignment.
- Apply sealants, adhesives, and corrosion protection materials as required.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Interiors teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain proper documentation in ERP/MRO systems (Corridor, CorrPlus, or Traxxall).
- Ensure compliance with FAA Part 145, company RSM/QCM, and safety standards.
- Maintain tools and equipment in serviceable condition, reporting calibration or repair needs.
- Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives in the shop.
