Job Description:

**THIS POSITION IS PENDING CONTRACT AWARD**

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Aircraft Mechanic II is responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and modifications on both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. This position supports various aviation programs and may require up to 25 travel to support off-site operations. Candidates should have broad maintenance experience and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a dynamic environment.

DUTIES

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of airframe, powerplant, electrical, avionics, fuel, and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct pre-flight, post-flight, and routine inspections in accordance with applicable regulations and technical data.
  • Support aircraft modifications, installations, and component upgrades, including wire harness routing and equipment testing.
  • Use technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and engineering documentation to execute maintenance actions.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
  • Operate specialized tools and diagnostic equipment to support maintenance efforts.
  • Support safety compliance and adhere to FAA, DOD, and company procedures.
  • Communicate maintenance issues and status updates effectively with supervisors and stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 years of aviation maintenance experience (fixed-wing and/or rotary-wing).
  • Completion of a military aviation specialty school or accredited aviation vocational program.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification preferred.
  • Basic sheet metal experience desired.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Must provide personal hand tools (specialized tools provided).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands, working at heights with fall protection devices
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances.
  • May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, APU, etc.

Environmental Factors:

  • Work in an inside/outside environment to include working around machinery, objects, vehicles, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Excessive noise and vibration that can be intermittent or constant.
  • Environmental conditions can included but not limited to dust, silica, asbestos, fumes, smoke, gas, solvents such as degreasing agents, grease, oils, and electrical energy
  • Working on slippery or uneven surfaces
  • Working closely with others or working alone
  • Possible protracted or irregular hours of work as needed or required.
