Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform assigned inspection functions in accordance with the prescribed standards of airworthiness and serviceability.
- Familiarity with the applicable 14CFR 145 regulations and with the inspection methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment, and tools used to determine the airworthiness.
- Responsible for the surveillance of all work in progress.
- Ensure that the maintenance record entry required by 43.9 or 43.11, as appropriate, is completed, accept or reject work accomplished for all items generated on the inspection forms.
- Perform receiving inspection of new or used parts intended for use on articles.
- Verify calibrated tooling used is current.
- Brief technicians on quality issues and ensure the maintenance personnel perform quality work.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief Inspector.
- This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to pre-employment and periodic DOT regulations for drug and alcohol testing.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma/GED, with two years as an QA/QC inspector in a Part 145 organization, knowledge of 8130-3 & COC certification.
- 2-5 years of performing inspections and experienced In-Process Inspections in MRO environment.
- Experienced in interpreting technical data, service bulletins (SBs), Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and military Technical Orders (TOs).
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100 or AS9110 standards.
- Ability to perform internal audits and understating of root cause/correction action analysis (RCCA) methodologies is a plus.
- Certificated under 14 CFR Part 65, A&P License required and must be current as required by 14 CFR Part 65.83.
- Associate degree in related field preferred.
- Knowledge of and the ability to operate various test equipment.
Abilities and Skills:
- Excellent verbal, writing, listening and interpersonal skills to interact with all functional levels of internal contacts.
- Detail orientated and organized.
- Computer literate. and proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word and Excel)
- Willing to work additional hours when operational objectives require it.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills with ability to exercise informed risk taking in order to make judgment calls.
- Ability to prioritize and to work without close supervision.
- Must be multi-task/project oriented with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced industry meeting established timelines.
Must be able to use/understand Technical Publications, ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings.
Proficient in using the various types of inspection equipment and visual inspection aids is required.
Proficient in Quality Control Administrative duties such as performing Internal audits.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to bend, squat, sit, stand, walk, and handle objects. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull, stack, reach above shoulder level or carry light-weight materials.
- Due to regulatory requirements of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
