What does the role look like?

We are actively seeking a Senior Systems & Performance Engineer to join our Wolverhampton-based team, contributing expertise to military and civil actuation projects.

This individual will play a key role in an integrated product team, leveraging their experience to autonomously plan and execute Systems & Performance Engineering work packages. Collaboration with the Principal Systems/Performance Engineer will enhance project delivery as needed.

Responsibilities include developing technical specifications and solutions for intricate actuation systems, involving requirements capture, architecture development, trade studies, requirements validation, design performance analysis, modeling, verification, and integration.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

•tUnderstanding, interpreting, and clarifying customer and stakeholder requirements.
•tEstablishing system architecture and developing interface definitions.
•tManaging requirements and creating specifications for internal and external suppliers.
•tUtilizing computer modelling and simulation for actuation systems, encompassing hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
•tSupporting product design and development through static and dynamic analysis, including sizing, sensitivity, and robustness analysis, as well as control law development.
•tConducting trade-off analysis to identify optimized solutions.
•tProducing project deliverables, such as Performance Analysis reports, Requirements Management Plans, System Description Documents, Verification Summaries, and Compliance Reports.
•tGenerating and tracking progress on requirements validation, traceability, and verification matrices/summaries.
•tAnalysing customer requirements for compliance.
•tIdentifying and addressing technical risks and implementing risk mitigation throughout the programs lifecycle.
•tContributing to the development of standard work and best practices within the function.
Job Requirements:

What will you bring to the role?

Essential skills:

•\tMinimum 5 years of aerospace (or similar) industry experience
•\tDemonstrated expertise in systems engineering activities and the development of computer simulations for complex hydraulic, mechanical, and/or electrical systems.
•\tDemonstrates unwavering personal integrity, operates independently with composure under pressure, and employs a logical approach to technical problem resolution and decision-making.

Desirable skills:

•\tShowcasing proficiency in analytical methods, problem-solving, Systems Thinking, System Lifecycles, System Modelling and Analysis, Requirements Definition, and System Architecting.
•\tKnowledgeable in hydro-mechanical and/or electro-mechanical systems, including control and monitoring.
•\tProven experience in system integration, model verification, and conducting intricate failure investigations.
•\tTraining provided for daily applications, with a preference for prior experience in IBM Rational DOORS 9.X for Requirements Management and/or Systems Modelling Language (SysML).
•\tDegree qualification in Engineering Science.
•\tCommitted to sharing knowledge within the team.
•\tExcellent oral and written communication skills.
•\tPossesses cross-cultural awareness.
•\tDriven by process compliance.
•\tFamiliarity with Mathworks Matlab and Simulink software packages.
•\tExperience in applying requirements management software to projects.
