About the Role:

The role will primarily create design, repair, or check design and certification documents related to cabin interior changes and repairs for passenger convenience and safety, operational support and aesthetics requirements.

Accountabilities include, but not limited to:

• Review the required design change / repair as requested by the customer (Qatar Airways Engineering / Technical Projects or any other department) and classify if the same falls within the privileges of Qatar Airways Design Organization (QADO) to facilitate change/repair projects.
• Classify a change or repair with the considerations of internal procedures, EASA Part 21 regulations and related supportive publications to support initial airworthiness and design organization requirements.
• Ensure that documents created for the design change / repair, are of an acceptable standard as per Qatar Airways Design Organization Handbook and Procedures.
• Liaise with design and certification engineers to assist in formulation of certification documentation and creation of design data to support initial airworthiness and design organization requirements.
• Ensure that design data comply with change / repair Project Work Scope and implement required Engineering Changes / Repairs in a timely and cost-effective manner to support initial airworthiness and design organization requirements.
• Review engineering data and drawings for accuracy before embodiment to maintain Qatar Airways Design Organization technical and quality requirements.
• Review and ensure that the Means of Compliance are appropriate and complete according to applicable airworthiness regulations, such as JAR/CS 25 (Compliance Verification function) to support initial airworthiness and design organization requirements.
• Liaise with Head of Office of Airworthiness to keep track of regulation changes, and organize training, update procedures, forms and processes in support of the Design Organization.
• Guide new employees to align them with teams objectives and priorities and support business objectives. Collaborate with manager in leading projects involving multiple sections, internal and external, for Technical Department in achieving the Company requirements.

About you:

• B.Sc. (Engineering) or B.Eng. degree in Aeronautical, Avionics, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or equivalent from recognized university.
• Working experience as Design Engineer and/or Compliance Verification Engineer in EASA Design Organization.
• Experience in formulating compliance documentation.
• Technical and project management experience in complex cabin change Minor/STC projects.
• Being trained on EASA Part 21 Regulations and CS 25 requirements.
• Good understanding of structural aspects of cabin interior changes.
• Detailed knowledge of Design Engineers and Compliance Verification Engineer’s responsibilities with respect to EASA Part 21 Subpart J.
• Good knowledge on dynamically tested seats and seat test methods.
• Good knowledge on aircraft interiors flammability requirements.
• Good knowledge on cabin interior and aircraft structural metallic and composite repairs.
• Good knowledge in additive manufacturing.
• Understand and interpret aircraft data including but not limited to aircraft manuals, (IPC/AMM/SRMN/BM), drawings, parts list, reports for both Airbus and Boeing fleet.
• Knowledge and interpretation of regulations and requirements for aircraft design changes to seating or interior components such as galleys, lavatories, carpets, seats, benches, sofas and bulkheads.
• Excel in AutoCAD and Fusion software.
• Strong interpersonal skills and very good communication skills.
