Position Summary
Ensures the quality of products and systems are maintained through data analysis, process improvements, and communication with both internal and external resources. Applies the quality management system requirements with a focus on supplier quality, resolving quality issues, and ensuring quality standards are met. Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality standards for products and processes. Provides statistical information for quality improvement by gathering data on trends and root cause analyses. Responsible for guiding technical evaluations, analyses, and related data acquisition processes to support quality initiatives throughout the organization and lead improvement efforts across multiple disciplines.
Responsibilities
Improvement Efforts
- Evaluates quality processes and develops improvement efforts through data analysis, management of documentation, and policies, procedures, and records.
- Evaluates effectiveness of quality programs (such as production, inspection, testing, design review, and procedures) with quality requirements.
- Develops and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision, reliability and accuracy of products and processes.
- Validates process, procedure, and product changes by examining impacts on quality and communicating required actions to internal and external stakeholders
- Assesses quality performance (or cost-of-quality) using statistical and analytical methods.
- Provides input on quality to product development teams.
- Prepares reports by collecting, interpreting, analyzing and summarizing data.
- Leads failure analysis and corrective action investigations with cross functional teams
- Refines and enhances products and processes by applying continuous improvement
- Participation in certification audits as needed.
Supplier Quality
- Assesses the quality of supplier’s capabilities and metrics.
- Develops and initiates programs to improve supplier performance.
- Communicates with suppliers regarding quality issues, process improvements, and specification requirements.
- Executes improvement initiatives for managing quality standards of component parts, which may include making vendor visits as needed.
- Collaborating with suppliers to ensure component part specifications are met.
- Collaborates with production and engineering team members to align component quality with product quality standards and customer needs.
- Participation in supplier audits as needed.
Customer Quality
- Assesses the cost of, and responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications by performing statistical analyses.
- Identifies quality performance, trends and corrective action by coordinating with customers and suppliers.
- Communicates with customers regarding quality issues, process improvements, and product capabilities and features.
- Communicates quality solutions with customers by validating product improvement actions and performance characteristics.
- Resolve quality issues and assist the broader team to fully address customer feedback in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Engineering required preferably in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical or Chemical engineering fields
- Ability to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement techniques to quality and manufacturing functions.
- Six Sigma and Lean tools experience is required, Green or Black Belt Six Sigma certification is a plus
- Familiarity with industry standards requirements, such as ISO 13485, ISO 9001, IATF 16949 for quality and ISO 14971 for risk management is highly desired
- American Society for Quality certification desired.
- Effective communicator with team members and management.
- Strong problem-solving skills with data-driven decision making.
- Project management experience is desired.
