Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector has an opening for a Principal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals, and the position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

*This position can be filled as a level 3 Principal Systems Engineer or a level 4 Sr. Principal Systems Engineer. Additionally, this role is contingent upon capturing program award(s) along with acquiring and maintaining customer and/or business funding. Furthermore, this requisition is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.*

The role’s responsibilities include but are not limited to the below:

-Work scope covers a range of Systems Engineering disciplines and products including requirements & verification, interfaces, architecture, and design
-Support/lead development of verification planning/products, test requirements, and other key products
-Support/lead preparation and execution of milestones
-Role entails collaboration with Space Vehicle Systems Engineering, subsystems, and unit level engineers and engagement in multiple working groups and control boards   
-Specifics of responsibilities can be tailored based on skillset and experience of selected candidate

Basic Qualifications for Level 3 Principal Systems Engineer:

-Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5+ years of engineering experience OR

-Master’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 3+ years of engineering experience OR 

-PhD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 1+ year(s) of engineering experience

-Candidate must have active SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years, at time of application, and prior to start date OR

-Candidate must have an active, current, or within scope DOD Top Secret security clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years, at time of application, and prior to start date as well as the ability to obtain and maintain active SCI access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to the candidate’s maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.

Basic Qualifications for Level 4 Sr. Principal Systems Engineer: 

-Bachelors degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and 8+ years of engineering experience OR

-Master’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and 6+ years of engineering experience OR

-PhD in a STEM in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and 4+ years of engineering experience

-Candidate must have active SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years, at time of application, and prior to start date OR

-Candidate must have an active, current, or within scope DOD Top Secret security clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years, at time of application, and prior to start date as well as the ability to obtain and maintain active SCI access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Primary Level Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
