What does the role look like?

In this position, you will be responsible for managing and delivering assigned Engineering and/or In-service programs within Global Defence Systems.

As the single point of contact for all activities in this role, you will work closely with supporting business functions such as Functional Engineering disciplines, Project Teams, Supply Chain, Quality, Programme Managers, Operations leadership, and the Engineering Manager to develop and deliver New Product Introduction (NPI) programs that are compliant, on time, and within target costs, or to support production work packages and provide resolution to issues.

It is essential that you develop and maintain an excellent relationship with the customer(s) as the main point of contact to ensure that deliverables and requirements are met according to the customers needs.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

•tReviewing and approving project plans to ensure that all engineering deliverables are defined.
•tMonitoring projects to ensure adherence to schedule, cost, and engineering deliverables, particularly regarding technical issues.
•tCollaborating with the associated Project Manager to maintain financial and resource forecasts for the project(s).
•tEstablishing engineering project forecasts for resource allocation and expenditure to support annual budgeting.
•tReviewing and managing technical risks, developing mitigation plans, and proactively implementing them with regular reviews to support project plans.
•tCoordinating the Project Team through regular startup meetings.
•tFacilitating communication flow from Senior Management to engineering staff and serving as an upward conduit for feedback from engineering staff to senior management.
•tProviding effective and timely reporting of project status.
•tImplementing a visible management philosophy.
•tDemonstrating leadership skills by effectively leading a team of engineers and technicians, extracting the best performance from team members.
•tAllocating and managing project tasks assigned to team members.
•tDemonstrating agility in assessing and adjusting priorities to align with business needs.
•tCollaborating with the Engineering Manager to facilitate staff development through mentorship of team members.
•tEnsuring adherence to engineering processes.
•tEngineering products to specification, ensuring compliance with all technical requirements, including statutory, legal, and ethical standards.
•tMonitoring and controlling product costs to meet agreed targets.
•tAddressing issues related to the in-service use of project equipment and implementing timely corrective actions.
•tManaging the progression and resolution of FRACA (Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action) issues raised within the team
Job Requirements:

What will you bring to the role?

Essential skills:

•\tQualified to Degree-Level, Chartered Engineer, or possesses relevant experience in the product line or a similar field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
•\tDemonstrates broad technical and intellectual capability, with the ability to effectively interface with a wide range of professionally qualified individuals in both external and internal business disciplines.
•\tHighly motivated, capable of driving results through direct leadership and the effective utilization of resources.

Desirable skills:

•\tDemonstrates determination and commitment, with a proven track record of taking responsibility and calculated risks.
•\tCapable of quickly assessing risks and providing timely corrective actions when necessary.
•\tPossesses strong organizational and time management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
•\tRecognized for exceptional leadership skills.
•\tStructured and organized, with proficiency in planning, reporting, and communication; able to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently.
•\tPrevious experience in an Aerospace environment is preferred.
•\tChartered Engineering status is desirable.
•\tPossesses 5 or more years of engineering experience within transport, nuclear, military, automotive, or other safety-related industries.
