SUMMARY: To develop and evaluate new Automation processes and improve current Automation process capability, efficiency, and overall productivity in all areas of manufacturing on new and existing products. Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of automated machinery and equipment, designing tools, fixtures, and determination of process parameters to achieve desired production goals and quality standards. This is a hands-on role requiring strong electrical and mechanical aptitude and the ability to work effectively with complex automated systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections and repairs on automated machines, including mechanical, electrical and pneumatic components.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot machine malfunctions using electrical and mechanical knowledge, minimizing downtime and maintaining production flow. 

  •  Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and implement improvements related to machine performance and reliability.

  • Utilize TPM principles to proactively maintain equipment and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Install, calibrate and test new automation equipment and machine components. 

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and document repairs, parts usage and machine status. 

  • Follow safety procedures and company polices to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and perform repairs efficiently to reduce production losses. 

  • Assist in training operators on proper machine use and basic trouble shooting techniques. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION STATEMENT (S) 

  • Actively participate and support the plant’s safety program. Report any injury or near miss immediately to your Group Lead or EHS Manager. Report all unsafe conditions immediately to a Group Lead, Value Stream Manager or EHS Manager. 

  • Actively participate in the High-Performance Team designated for your area. The HPTs are meant to improve work experience by allowing employees an opportunity to offer suggestions for improvement. 

  • Record accurate and timely data, including order completions and quantity on daily labor reports, reclaim tickets, reject parts and daily hours worked. 

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment. Keep all walkways and aisles free of any debris or clutter. Maintain 5S standards by returning tools to shadow boards. Sweep floor and finishing area as needed. 

  • Daily attendance is a requirement of the job, as is arriving on time. Overtime is expected when customer demand dictates the need. 

  • Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but will assist in working with and directing production associates

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  

Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and/or 3 to 5 years of related machining/automation experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS  

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to affectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 

  

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS  

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs. 

 

REASONING ABILITY  

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
