Overview of Role
The Sr. Technical Business Analyst (BA) is a key member of the IT Crew Operations team, responsible for supporting multiple projects and operational initiatives. This role focuses on deriving and documenting business requirements, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring technology solutions align with business needs. The Sr. Technical BA will work in a fast-paced, Agile environment, supporting mission-critical Crew Operations applications and driving process improvements.
Key Deliverables & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with architects, product owners, developers, QA, and business stakeholders to define and document technical and functional requirements.
- Translate business needs into detailed user stories, use cases, and workflows for development teams.
- Support multiple projects, including implementation, sustainment, and enhancement of Crew Operations applications (e.g., Crew Management, Scheduling, Planning, Payroll).
- Analyze business and technology processes to identify areas for improvement and operational efficiency.
- Participate in the creation of project plans, process flow diagrams, and requirements documentation.
- Work closely with development teams to ensure requirements are well understood and technically feasible.
- Support and participate in API design and development, including documentation and integration testing.
- Maintain clear and organized documentation for ongoing and completed projects.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, describing product functionality and criticality to business and technology performance.
- Coordinate with IT teams, business units, and external vendors to deliver projects and resolve incidents within agreed timelines.
- Proactively identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (scrum, sprint planning, prioritization) and contribute to product roadmaps.
- Mentor other analysts and support process improvement initiatives within the team.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years in a technical business analysis or systems analyst role, ideally supporting mission-critical systems.
- Experience in requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management.
- Strong understanding of software development processes, API development, and application monitoring.
- Proficiency with workplace tools (Office 365, MS Visio, MS Project, MS Teams).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to translate between business and technical fields.
- Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Highly organized, able to multitask, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- IIBA certification preferred, or willingness to pursue certification.
- Airline IT knowledge is an asset.
