Position Overview

Boeing China Government Affairs Team is looking for a Government Affairs Specialist to join us in Beijing/Shanghai, China.

This position will support the development and deployment of Government Affairs’ strategy. 

  • Executes integrated stakeholder engagement strategy and plans, policies and procedures.  Advise the development of business and technical strategies, goals, objectives through business partnership. 

  • Lead team in developing and implementing programs to advocate the Companys business interests, including the analysis of laws and regulations and coordination with government/industry officials and agencies.

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with stakeholders including but not limited to customers, government, internal and external business partners, peers and team members

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Engage local government on topics with important business interest and building constructive relationships with relevant government administrations

  • Act as a resource on regulatory matters regarding policy changes that affect the organization

  • Collaborate to prepare and organize forums and gatherings with government officials to exchange ideas and information on business activities and potential legislation that may affect the organization

  • Ensure that the organizations interests are represented and protected in legislative proceedings and in the development of spanet rules and procedures

  • Develop and maintain policies and programs to ensure awareness of government legislation and regulatory issues that affect the organization.

  • Proactively solve complex projects independently or through team engagement. Build organizational influence when interacting with various stakeholders

  • Accountable for research and connection with qualified industry forums/events

  • Facilitate government relations development to company’s projects & operations in China, by obtaining necessary permits or administrative approvals

  • Develop solutions to unique and complex problems through interaction and negotiations with government administration

  • Interpret and anticipate regulatory and policy change, providing timely analysis of their possible impacts and consultancy to business and management decisions

 

Required Competencies:

  • Analytical Thinking: Effectively collects, organizes, synthesizes, and analyzes data; summarizes findings; develops conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.

  • Communication: Using a variety of media, clearly conveys information and ideas to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.

  • Diplomacy: Understands and navigates the concerns of others, working to achieve value added results and win-win outcomes with stakeholders.

  • Political Awareness: Assesses the political environment to effectively make recommendations.

  • Relationship Management: Effectively leverages and builds relationships with key stakeholders and communities.

  • Effective Execution: Highly independent in developing and managing projects and follow through for results.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10 years of relevant experience in government affairs or aviation industry.

  • Strong business acumen.

  • Fully understand the current regulatory practices and regulation in China.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, good command of English and Mandarin oral and written communication skills are must.

  • Aviation industry knowledge and experience is required.

  • The candidate should be a self-starter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or above in related field or equivalent experience.

  • Airline working experience is a plus

Additional Information:

  • This requisition is for a locally hired position in China. 

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in China.

  • Benefits and pay are determined by China and are not on the Boeing US payroll. This is not an expatriate assignment.
